Terms of Service

The agreement between you and OneTapAnswer. It is written to be read — if a clause here is unclear, that is a fault in this page and we want to hear about it.

PrivacyTermsRefunds

1The agreement

These terms are between you and OneTapAnswer (“we”, “us”). They apply when you download the app, create an account, or buy a plan. Using any of those means you accept them.

The Privacy Policy and the Refund Policy are part of this agreement. If you do not accept all three, do not use the app — the free tier included.

2What OneTapAnswer is

OTA is a desktop application. When you press its hotkey it captures the window in front of you, sends that image to an AI provider you have connected, and shows you the answer as a notification.

We are not the AI. We do not generate answers, we do not check them, and we cannot promise one is correct. OTA is a way of asking a question quickly; judging the answer stays your job, exactly as it would if you had typed the question yourself.

3Your account

  • One account per person. Accounts are not shared, sold, or transferred. If several people need OTA, that is what the Team plan is for and it is cheaper anyway.
  • Two computers at a time. A third sign-in signs out whichever of the two you have used least recently, and OTA names it so you know what happened.
  • You must be 16, or older if the age of digital consent where you live is higher.
  • Your sign-in is yours to look after. It is a Google account; we never see or store a password, and we cannot reset one.

4Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute OTA, or charge anybody for access to your account.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the prompts, keys, or protected assets in the binary.
  • Automate OTA to answer at scale — it is a hotkey for a person at a computer, not a batch service.
  • Use it to produce material that is illegal where you are, or to harass, defraud, or impersonate anybody.
  • Work around the free-tier limit, the device limit, or the payment system.

Breaking any of these lets us suspend or close the account. Where the breach is plainly accidental we will write to you before doing anything.

5Exams, coursework and your institution's rules

Whether you are allowed to use OTA in a given test is your responsibility, not ours. Schools, universities, certification bodies and employers each set their own rules, we have no way of knowing them, and we do not check.

OTA is built for revision, practice papers, self-study and getting unstuck. Using it in an assessment that forbids outside help may breach your institution’s academic integrity rules, and the consequences of that fall on you. We will not be a party to that decision, and buying a plan is not permission to make it.

6Plans and billing

Every account gets 10 free answers a month, resetting on the 1st, indefinitely. It is not a trial and it does not expire. A paid plan makes answers unlimited.

Monthly
$29.90 / month, renewing until cancelled.
6 Months
$49.90 / 6 months, renewing until cancelled.
Yearly
$69.90 / year, renewing until cancelled.
Team
$49.90 a month for up to 5 people including the buyer, renewing until cancelled.
  • Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax your country adds at checkout. Your bank may charge a conversion fee we never see.
  • Payment is taken by Stripe or PayPal, on their pages. We do not receive or store card details.
  • Every plan is the same app. Nothing is locked behind a higher tier; the only differences are how often you renew and how many people are covered.

7Auto-renewal

Plans renew automatically until you cancel them. A Monthly plan charges $29.90 again every month, a 6-Month plan every six months, a Yearly plan every year. This is said on the pricing page, on the buy button, and in the app before you pay.

We charge the same price at renewal that you agreed to, unless we have told you otherwise at least 30 days beforehand (see section 17). If a payment fails, OTA keeps working for three days while your provider retries — long enough to update a card without losing an exam — and then falls back to the free tier.

8Cancelling

Cancel in the app: Settings → Plan → Cancel. One button, no email to write, nobody to talk to, no retention offer.

  • Cancelling stops the next charge. It does not end the period you are inside.
  • You keep unlimited answers until the last day you have paid for. Nothing is taken away early.
  • Until it takes effect, the same button undoes it.
  • Afterwards your account stays, with the free 10 answers a month. Nothing is deleted.

9Refunds

All sales are final. We do not offer refunds for subscription periods already paid for, and cancelling is not a refund — see section 8.

The reason we can say that is the free tier: 10 answers a month, forever, on the quiz you actually need it for. Nobody has to buy OTA on trust, so nobody needs a money-back guarantee to find out whether it works for them.

Your statutory rights are untouched by that sentence. Consumers in the EU and the UK have a 14-day right of withdrawal, and duplicate charges, charges after a cancellation, and a plan that never activated are always put right. The full policy, including exactly how the withdrawal right interacts with immediate access, is on the Refund Policy page and forms part of these terms.

10Team plans

One person pays $49.90 a month and receives an invite code. Up to 5 people in total, the buyer included, redeem it and get unlimited answers.

  • Everybody keeps their own account, their own two computers and their own answers. A team shares the payment and nothing else.
  • The buyer can remove a member, which frees the seat immediately. A member can leave at any time.
  • If the buyer cancels, everybody keeps unlimited answers to the end of the period already paid for, then falls back to whatever they hold on their own.
  • The invite code is for people you know. Posting it publicly is a breach of section 4 and we will reset it.

11The affiliate programme

If you join it, the separate terms shown when you join apply on top of these. In short: you earn a share of what people you refer actually pay, commission is reversed if they refund or charge back, and self-referral, paid search on our brand name, spam and misleading claims about what OTA does all forfeit a balance. The programme page has the detail.

12The AI providers

OTA connects to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Ollama under your own account with each. Your use of them is governed by their terms, not ours, and their rate limits, outages and answer quality are theirs.

We do not control what they charge, whether they keep offering a free tier, or whether they keep existing. If a provider becomes unavailable we will support the others and say so; it is not grounds for a refund of a period already paid for, because OTA has four engines and one of them runs on your own machine.

13Who owns what

  • We own OTA — the app, the website, the name, the logo and the prompts inside the binary. Buying a plan buys the right to use it, not a copy of it.
  • You own what you do with it. We claim nothing over your screen, your questions, or the answers you receive, and we never see them.
  • Feedback you send us we may act on without owing you anything — that is the only thing you give up by writing in, and it is the ordinary arrangement for a suggestion box.

14What we promise, and what we do not

We will run the service with reasonable care and skill, keep it available as much as we practically can, and tell you honestly when something is broken.

Beyond that the app is provided as is. We do not warrant that an answer is correct, that OTA will read every window perfectly, that it will work with software we have never seen, or that it will be uninterrupted — it depends on an AI provider, an operating system, and a network, none of which are ours.

15Liability

If we are liable to you for something, our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — lost marks, failed assessments, disciplinary outcomes, lost work or lost profit.

Nothing in this section limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law where you live does not permit us to limit. If you are a consumer, your mandatory rights come first and this clause yields to them.

16Ending it

You can stop at any time: cancel the plan, sign out, uninstall. Ask us and the account is deleted too (Privacy §8).

We can suspend or close an account that breaches section 4, that is being used fraudulently, or where we are required to. Unless the breach makes it impossible, we write first. If we close a paid account for a reason that is not your fault, we refund the unused part of the period — that is the one case where money comes back, and it exists so that our own right to terminate cannot be used to keep somebody’s payment.

17Changes to these terms and to prices

  • Terms. The date at the top changes when the text does. For a material change we email account holders first.
  • Prices. A price change never applies to a period you have already paid for. For a renewal we give at least 30 days’ notice by email, so there is always time to cancel before it takes effect.

18Law and disputes

If you are a consumer, the law of the country you live in applies, and you can bring a claim in your own local courts. That is not generosity — for a product sold to consumers worldwide it is what the law already provides, and a clause claiming otherwise would simply be unenforceable where it mattered.

Where you are not a consumer — a business buying a Team plan, for instance — the agreement is governed by the law of the place where we are established, and by the courts there.

Before any of that: write to support@onetapanswer.com. Nearly everything that reaches this section is a misunderstanding or a bug, and both are cheaper to fix than to argue about.

If a clause of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Questions go to support@onetapanswer.com, and are answered by a person.
